Alcohol: 13.5% by vol.
This is hallowed ground for us. Contra Costa County is perhaps the most classic Californian terroir, where 19th Century plantings of Carignan, Mataro, and Zinfandel persist on their own roots in 40 feet of pure sand. We sourced fruit from two small, sustainably farmed 120-140 year-old vineyards in Oakley and Antioch.
“As Above, So Below” –we are honored to share this story the same way it has been told for many generations.
Production:
Zinfandel was de-stemmed, Mataro was fermented whole cluster, and Carignan was split between whole cluster fermentation and carbonic maceration
Fermented with native yeast and bacteria
Aged on lees for 10 months in neutral French oak barriques
Minimal sulfur applied at bottling, otherwise produced without fining, filtration, addition or subtraction
